  • Fundación Arcandina - Ecuador
    In December 1996, a national television show to promote awareness of and mobilise support for environmental conservation among children and adolescents premiered in Ecuador. Broadcast weekly throughout the country, Arcandina ("The Andean Ark") used an education-through-entertainment approach, behaviour change strategies, and community mobilisation to encourage children to become environmentally responsible citizens. At the end of its first season in December 1997, 40 shows had been produced in Ecuador and were aired nationally and internationally.
  • Fundación ChasquiNet - Ecuador
    A non-profit entity devoted to providing Internet solutions to individuals, institutions, and communities committed to social change in Ecuador and in the region. Its objective is "to Humanize Globalized Communication". This virtual community is a meeting place for institutions and individuals that work on line in social progress project management. It offers design, maintenance, hosting, and web site promotion services to non-profit organizations as well as e-mail, database development, web tools, training, and assessment. ChasquiNet has an assessment area for building community televised centers, spaces in which the community is trained and has access to the new communication technologies.
  • Infodesarrollo - Ecuador
    An information and collaboration portal for development, initiated by INTERCOM - Ecuanex, an Ecuadorian network aimed at democratizing information and knowledge through Internet tools. In a systemized manner, this portal offers current relevant information on the various fields of development. Its objective is to facilitate information identification, access, and use by non-governmental organizations, base entities and popular institutions, cooperation agencies, social networks, etc.
  • Proyecto TELELAC (TELELAC Project) - Ecuador
    This project seeks to create and support local, national, and regional television center initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, through a collaboration and participation process that ensures the self-sustainability of the network. It is part of the Centro Internacional de Investigación para el Desarrollo - CIID (International Research Center for Development) regional PAN program and is carried out by Fundación ChasquiNet, in collaboration with the Latin American Network of Television centers. The project seeks to investigate, analyze, diagnose, document, and create materials for the use of television centers and to gather their experiences; to create a group operational learning space in which tools and services are offered to strengthen the television centers, and to develop, experiment and socialize a set of methods, techniques and instruments to monitor and evaluate the work of the television centers.
  • Vía Libre - Ecuador
    VIA LIBRE is a kit which contains: a tv series, a guide book, a web site, an in-school educational model, and a volunteer scheme, all designed around the needs of youth, their culture, values, and codes. VIA LIBRE TV was transmitted by ETV Telerama a tv channel with national coverage from August 19 to November 9, 2000. Following its television transmission the series VIA LIBRE is available for schools and counselling centers as an educational video kit. A Guide Book, VIA LIBRE PARA HABLAR DE SEXUALIDAD, complements the TV series with a methodology and a step by step guide to use the kit. The Guide Book was designed for an easy to use approach and is intended for teachers, counsellors and volunteer workers. The Young Volunteer Scheme trains Volunteer Counsellors to work in school and youth groups. The web site has information on sexuality presented in coloquial and everyday language and includes self-tests to find out the level of knowledge on certain topics related to sexuality and Online surveys with more than 1.000 visits per month.
